Still Pretty in Pink?

Normally I fear sequels to great movies... but when the director and cast are all lined up to take a crack at a twenty-years-later sort of thing, who knows? Stereogum turned me on to the news that John Hughes plans to direct the sequel to "Pretty In Pink," and it will feature Molly Ringwald, Andrew McCarthy and John Cryer [source].

At first I panicked, but now I'm thinking this may be interesting.

Yeah, the sequel is gonna be called "Pretty in Red" and she'll be going through Menopause. Give me a fucking break. Is Hughes that bored? He'd be better off doing Home Alone 4. What a joke. Is he going to re-do 'Breakfast Club' too? Call it 'Golf Club' and show them all grown up (no career having hacks) sitting around sipping tea and talking about hemmoroids?

Doing a sequel of one of the crappiest teen movies of my generation is stupid. It sucked in the first place, I don't want to see a grown up "Ducky" (although I put up with him on the Charlie Sheen show.) I mean, how big of a loser could he be now? And Molly Ringwald? Was she ever hot? No. Although, she was the Dork Princess - so I can see why you love her. Hahahahahaha!!

No, no no. Another sad commentary on our times.
