Dangerous Beauty
In your high school photo
You looked so young and naïve

Neo-Cons. The post below about the guns was posted in anger after I was so disgusted with neo-conservative comments on a couple of blogs. I have to say that people who are so righteous in their beliefs depress the hell out of me. To me most things in life are gray, but the righteous right see it as only black or white. I can’t even fathom that kind of thinking. To me there are only a number of issues that are black and white. However, I have no interest in debating that or the shades of gray in life. You may have even noticed that I have largely limited my Bush bashing. There is no sense.

"Notes on a Scandal." What an excellent movie. A great story and outstanding acting by Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, and Bill Nighy was fabulous too. I highly recommend it.

You Tube. I am familiar with the site and have posted videos from it, but I never really explored it. Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours viewing a number of the Rolling Stones’ videos. Some of them brought back a lot of memories of watching them on the Midnight Special or the early years of MTV. I posted one of the silly ones by the Stones “She’s So Hot.” Followed by the complete opposite “She’s So Cold.”

Midlife Crisis. I was chatting with a friend yesterday, who is just months away from qualifying for AARP membership, and he told me he is having an affair with a 22-year-old. The guy who cuts my hair is also in the same age category, he is divorced, but he too dated a 20-year-old. I guess midlife crisis are real and it’s a crisis for all concerned.

Gradnite '75. This is me at gradnite with my first love. Where is she today? No idea. When I received this picture a few weeks ago, it was the first time I had seen it since the day it arrived. I hated that picture of me. My girlfriend at the time still looks exactly the same in my mind.

Seeing that my 43 year old brother has been married for the past 6 months to a woman who turned 22 the day she gave birth to my niece, this midlife thing (May-December? is that what the romance thing is?) doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm working on developing my own midlife crisis, but I'm not sure how to distinguish it from my so-called life in general.

Alice, you make me laugh. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I can't go into further detail about those friends because it's not my story to tell, but there were and probably will be further complications. To be honest, I really would not want to trade places with them.

What a great picture, especially the hat, LOL. I'm very sick lately of self-righteous people, too.

My grandmother died a year or so ago and within 6 months, her husband (my step-grandfather), who was 83 at the time, let a 51-year-old woman move in. He also signed everything over to her, including his medical power of attorney. We're expecting her to poison him any day now. I guess that's not really a mid-life crisis, huh? More like an end-of-life crisis.

You may be interested in reading "Red and Blue God, Black and Blue Church" by Becky Garrison; "Conservatives without Conscience" by John W. Dean; or "Our Endangered Values" by Jimmy Carter. I've read the 3rd, am halfway through the first, and will read the 2nd one next.

Trish, that is rather sad that he would trust a complete stranger over family members.

I used to like the hats, but I have no sense of women's fashion.

Pirate, The John Dean book rather interests me, because without his conscience many of the Watergate criminals may have gotten away with it.

OMG! That picture is so cute! You need to replace your badge pictures at work with that one. And regrow those long red-gold locks. That is a great look for you!

Johnna, thank you. The reason I felt save posting that is because no one can recognize me today from that photo. The photo quality is bad, but my hair was bleach blond from hanging out at the beach. The only reason I like now is it's funny and I was so young.
