Where There is Smoke...

The world, an entity out of everything, was created by neither gods nor men, but was, is and will be eternally living fire, regularly becoming ignited and regularly becoming extinguished.
Heraclitus (c. 535–c. 475 BC), Greek philosopher

Our company has left and it’s a bit before 3 p.m. and the brush fires are again back to accompany the wild Santa Ana winds. We are in no fire danger, just finding the smoke a bit annoying, but again nothing compared to the people whose homes and lives are threatened.

My sister lives in the east county in San Diego and they have three going there as well. She calls me every couple of hours and tells me how black the sky is and the ash raining down on them.

This coming week is the 4 year anniversary of the Big ONE in San Diego, the Cedar Fire.

wonderful anniversary isn't it?

Here in the Valley I can see the smoke and smell the fire. Be safe.

I was thinking of you just this afternoon, wondering how close you were to the epicenters. Glad to hear you're clear—if clouded nonetheless.

Dusty, I think that October, November is brings in a number of anniversaries. I hope your sister stays out of harm's way.

Jack, Thank you.

Teresa, Thank you. I actually meant to send you an e-mail to see if everything was okay.
