DeLay Acting Repentant

God may pardon you, but I never can.
Elizabeth I (1533 - 1603), English monarch

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) is now going the public forgiveness route.

According to the Washington Post, DeLay appeared in the ornate Caucus Room of the Cannon House Office Building during the 54th annual National Day of Prayer gathering on Capitol Hill. "If we spent less time ducking responsibility and more time welcoming it. If we spent less time on our soapboxes and more time on our knees." DeLay drew appreciative smiles when he added, "For in God, all things are possible, ladies and gentlemen. And even greatness from lowly sinners like you and me -- especially me."

DeLay has no shame. He acted as if he were a mafia don in the House and now that his shenanigans are being exposed and people are realizing that he might be a bully, a liar or simply just another politician on the take, he wants his constituents to forgive him.

I would like to see DeLay, the sinner on his knees – in a penitentiary scrubbing the bathrooms with a toothbrush.

DeLay in a peninentiary on his knees... what a wonderful thought! But you know what? "The Public" is a flighty, doe-eyed sucker. They'll be feeding at his trough of bullshit again in no time at all. Congress has something like an 85% incumbency rate. Yet EVERYONE complains about politicians. How, in the name of our dear sweet lord and savior, does this make ANY sense at all??? Oh, wait, it's because our country is infected with a virulent strain of apathy known as Mefirstitis. All my energy goes toward that which affects me directly and immediately. All else gets pushed to the side, as if it's merely an annoyance. Meanwhile, more subtle forces are at work, and devious individuals are using Mefirstitis as leverage to effect their own selfish agendas.

Wow, I done just ranted for a minute. Allow me to recap: Fuck DeLay. Preferably with a fellow inmate.

I honestly cannot believe the depths this bunch of republicans will sink to in their totally obvious abuse of religious concepts and Christianity. Oh well, the Christians and the religious right seem O.K with it, even offering their approval most of the time. The whole bunch of them - Delay, Bush, Republicans, and right-sided Christians are just absolutely perfect for each other - it's a shame rational human beings are being dragged down with them.

I prefer that he use his tongue than a brush.

Devo, see post below about tennis. Thankfully there is one less case of mefirstitis.

sa, I suspect it's a bottomless well of crooked politicians Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans are just the latest hypocritic crooks because they are in power.

Jack, then I hope someone steps on his tongue as he finishes.

Is it too late to give Texas back to the Mexicans? "Whoops. Our bad. You take it."
