Random thoughts

And life is given to none freehold, but it is leasehold for all.
Lucretius (94 BC - 55 BC), Roman philosopher and poet

Social Security is Not Dead. The Bush administration uses Muhammad Ali’s Rope a Dope offense better than the originator. Watch how they will use everything in their power, which has included paid reporters, to push their agenda. Already an affiliate of the Swift Boat group has started attacking the AARP for backing gay marriages and abortions. The administration allows opponents to take their best shots, and meanwhile they prepare to make up stories to neutralize or bury them.

Let the Poor Eat Cake. Alan Greenspan, the Federal Reserve chairman, cautiously endorsed a shift in the nation's tax system on promoting one that primarily taxes what people earn to one that taxes what they spend. Guess who has more to spend? What has kept this country going and different from others is that we were able to avoid an overt class structure. I think that is rapidly ending.

Martha Stewart Now Home. Her personal stock is up and people feel sympathetic to her. Once her TV show takes off and she is seen firing people, expect opinion to once again turn against her.

Life is Fragile. We just had a beloved co-worker,53, die yesterday morning of a sudden heart attack. He was healthy and in good shape. I will never get use to death and how people are here one day and gone forever the next.

Oh! I missed that a few days back. I'm so sorry your coworker died, I hope you're not feeling too sad. It's a shock isn't it? Even when they're old and ready to go.
