TV Journalist Peter Jennings Dead at 67

I subscribe to leaving people with essentially -- sorry it's a cliche -- a rough draft of history. Some days it's reassuring, some days it's absolutely destructive."
Peter Jennings (1938-2005)

Peter Jennings, the Canadian-born broadcaster who delivered the news to Americans each night in five separate decades, died Sunday. He was 67. Jennings, who announced in April that he had lung cancer, died at his New York home.

Oh, that's very sad.

As a former journalist, I always admired Jennings. He was so intelligent and unassuming. You just believed him.

Especially given where this profession has gone the past few years, this is a very big and very sad passing.

It is indeed very sad. I liked Jennings' newcast, but since he has been gone I switched to Brian Williams and he is not so bad either, as far as network news goes. It's rare that I am home in time to watch the network news.
