Congratulations to the Los Angeles Angels!

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True. And the Grand Canyon is only a hole in Arizona. Not all holes, or games, are created equal.
George F. Will, political columnist

The Angels are the American League West Division Champions.

Meanwhile the Dodgers are literally fighting rats at the stadium.

I miss my Dodgers. I am ready to put a picture of them on the back of a milk carton.

Go Red Sox!

Jack, I am afraid that the Dodgers we grew up with, and me more so than you because I am older, are gone forever. This owner has:

Hired a rookie general manager,
Let a veteran broadcaster go,
Let a third base coach go without contacting him,
Raised ticket, parking and food prices,
Took the names of the jerseys,
Let rats infest a food stand, and
Stopped earthquake construction.

I am sure there are some I am forgetting, but the Dodgers are gone. And, what is worse, next year is Vin Scully's last year unless he renews his contract.

Red Sox are my second choice.

The Sox must go down. I have a bet with a friend that the Angels will do better.

And yes you are correct that the owner is a putz, but I still love my team. I can't help it, I see Dodger blue and I want to cheer.

I remember meeting Bill Buckner when he was a Dodger back in '73. I met Lopes, Cey, Russell and Garvey too.

I met Wes Parker and Roy Campanella, shook hands with Jim Gilliam and so many other names of the past.

McCourt is a jerk, but I love my team.

I guess once a new owner takes over I no longer view them as the same team. I am not a football fan, but a few friends still root for the St. Louis Rams because they used to play here. Once Georgia Frontier(sp?) gained control I dismissed them and once they moved never even followed them.

Jack, how did you get to meet all of those players?

They used to do a lot of community appearances and I met most of them that way.

I see Ron Cey several times a week. He works out at my gym and looks like he could walk out on the field today.

Pete Rose shows up their occasionally, but I have yet to see him actually play or exercise.

Los Angeles Angels?

Don't you mean the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, or is it the other way around?

Attila, technically you're right, however, the Angels' manager, batting coach, first base coach all came from the Dodgers. The Angel owner cares about the team and the fans like the O'Malley's (old Dodger owners) used to care about the team and fans. McCourt (new Dodger owner) is just going to drive the team into the ground than build condos where the stadium stands
