Republicans, Too, Say The Darndest Things

Grover Norquist, a conservative activist with close ties to Karl Rove, sums up the problems in New Orleans very succintly:

"Looting in a Democratic city run by a Democratic mayor and a Democratic governor."

Norquist, by the way, is the guy who compared the estate tax to the Holocaust in an interview on NPR.

[Thanks, Newsweek!]

Norquist is a putz.

I'll leave it at that.

If you haven't seen it yet, Friedman says this about Norquist in today's Times:

Norquist is the only person about whom I would say this: I hope he owns property around the New Orleans levee that was never properly finished because of a lack of tax dollars. I hope his basement got flooded. And I hope that he was busy drowning government in his bathtub when the levee broke and that he had to wait for a U.S. Army helicopter to get out of town.
